Podcast #11: A sustainable university for a sustainable future
Sustainability Officer Regina Rowland answered our questions about the Sustainable Development Goals and European Sustainability Days and explained what role the Burgenland University of Applied Sciences plays in this. Lisa Stögerer, a student on the Business Process Engineering & Management master's degree programme, has also been intensively involved with the Burgenland University of Applied Sciences and the topic of "sustainability". She even dedicated her Master's thesis to the topic. She was also a guest in this exclusive episode, describing her findings and making recommendations.

Every single person bears responsibility. If seven billion people were to say that sustainability is none of my business, then we wouldn't get anywhere. Everyone has to think: what can I do differently so that we can grow into sustainability? As an educational institution, we are pioneers in terms of teaching, knowledge and research.
Regina Rowland, Sustainability Officer at FH Burgenland

Every degree programme and every student can deal with the topic of sustainability and pursue it further, because the topic is very broad and affects every area. At first I thought to myself: Process management and sustainability... How do I combine that? But you can definitely do it. That's why I would like to motivate everyone to deal with it in their own area of expertise.

Behind-the-scenes

The podcast was recorded by presenter Jennifer Joó, who works in the marketing department at Burgenland University of Applied Sciences and is herself a graduate of the university. "During the preparations for the Sustainability Weeks, I realised that Regina Rowland is not only an expert on the topic of sustainability, but that she also puts her heart and soul into promoting change. You can tell that it's a matter close to her heart. We also celebrated a podcast premiere: for the first time, a student was a guest on the FH Burgenland podcast. I find the findings from Lisa's Master's thesis very exciting. Thank you for your commitment," says Jennifer.
