Research Topics

Research on sustainability is understood broadly in the department and refers to economic, ecological and social sustainability as well as sustainable communication. In order to answer research questions on sustainable and responsible management, there are various cooperations, for example internally with the Department of Energy and Environmental Management.

Topics that are researched by the employees are: Sustainability education, energy law and energy management, compliance, sustainable economic processes (e.g. in controlling), sustainability reporting, business development, systemic SME management, circular business models (circular economy), entrepreneurship education & aspects of sustainability, emergent leadership in teams, political discourses, biographies and storytelling of entrepreneurs.

SEED Hub - building a network for social entrepreneurs

Smart Up - building a start-up network across national borders

MIENAT - reinterpretation of natural heritage to promote tourism

Burgenland: sustainable, climate-friendly and environmentally aware - further education on sustainability for pupils and educators

This research priority focuses on cultural, economic and scientific relations with countries in this geographical area. Research and the associated development of academic networking in this economic area will be strengthened. The focus of research is on topics such as the expansion of transcultural economic as well as scientific networks in order to deal with the challenges in entrepreneurial internationalisation processes.

Topics that are researched by the staff are: Internationalisation processes of SMEs, EU election campaigns, political and business-specific communication in the CEE region, EU external relations, diversity, intercultural teams and intercultural working.

CZECH Online - Online learning module for the development of Czech language and culture

In this research area, the staff focus on the user-friendliness and usability of applications or products, as well as on the perception of an application or a product. In addition to the classic qualitative and quantitative methods, the methods used include eye tracking, emotion measurement and other techniques for which we have special infrastructure (technical equipment and laboratories).

Topics that are researched by the staff are: Consumer attitudes towards sustainability, wine marketing, sustainable communication, effect of communication (language, facial expressions,...) in job interviews, storytelling in marketing communication, basic effect of storytelling, pricing strategies in the wine industry, importance of wine packaging elements (e.g. labels), quality assessments of wine consumers.
