25 years of FH Burgenland - behind the scenes with Elisa Rauscher

Do you remember what attracted you to FH Burgenland back then?

Clearly the opportunity to learn an Eastern European language - in my case Czech. I hadn't heard of any other university of applied sciences offering this speciality before. Especially in this day and age, it's a clear advantage to be able to speak an Eastern European language and it's a great plus on your CV. In addition, the 15-week work placement abroad really appealed to me.

Why do you like studying at FH Burgenland?

FH Burgenland is a modern educational institution with a feel-good atmosphere. Students and lecturers meet at eye level, which makes teaching very pleasant. Differences of opinion between students and lecturers are discussed in a great way, insights into professional life are provided through experience reports from lecturers and, in addition, all questions are addressed and answered in the best possible way. Of course, you are primarily at the university of applied sciences to learn and expand your knowledge, but you still enjoy a familiar atmosphere and there is plenty of fun to be had.

In the film you say that you can only get the content in this special combination at FH Burgenland. And without any tuition fees.

Why can you stand by this statement or would you recommend studying here and why?

I think that the FH Burgenland offers an ideal combination of theory, practice and fun. The lecturers are extremely committed and you can tell that they care about preparing us students well for professional life. The theory is very often underpinned with stories from the real world, so you can get an idea of what it's like in reality. In addition to learning the theory, having fun and socialising with fellow students during the breaks is definitely not neglected. To immerse yourself in the practical world, the work placement abroad is simply great. You get to know working life and the culture of the country and meet people from all over the world.

You also say that you want to understand business in an international context and stand up for fair business practices - within the company and worldwide. You also think outside the box.

What are your plans for the future?

I'm currently studying for a Master's degree in "Human Resource Management and Labour Law CEEC", also at the Burgenland University of Applied Sciences. My plan for the future is to travel a lot, get to know the cultures of other countries and find a job where I can apply my knowledge from both the Bachelor's and Master's degree programmes very well, which I enjoy and for which I am happy to get up every day.
