Why AI Won’t Make You a Better Decision-Maker: How to Think Clearly in an Age of Confident Machines
AI is changing the way we think—but not always for the better. Even the smartest people fall into predictable thinking traps, and AI can reinforce them by providing quick, confident answers that seem right.
In this interactive lecture, you’ll discover the cognitive biases behind poor decisions, learn when AI improves judgement—and when it quietly undermines it—and leave with practical tools for making better decisions in an increasingly AI-driven world.
Guest Speaker:MMag. Raphaela Reinfeld, MBA is a communication strategist, moderator and university lecturer specialising in decision-making, strategic communication and leadership. She helps leaders think more clearly, communicate with precision and make better decisions in complex environments.
Time: Tuesday, 10 November 2026, 5–6 pm
Venue: Online via MS Teams (in English)
Registration is open until 9 November 2026, 12.30 pm.

Recurring event on current developments
91 per cent of students and 88 per cent of lecturers use AI – yet only half are truly harnessing its potential. This open lecture provides a concise overview of the key developments: Deep Research, agent-based functions, ChatGPT vs. Claude vs. Gemini, and NotebookLM as the discovery of the year.
But it’s about more than just tools. How is the role of the lecturer changing now that the ‘homework apocalypse’ has become a reality? What does the decline of written work as proof of competence mean for our examination culture? And how do we prepare students for a world of work in which AI is a constant companion?
Barbara Geyer is Professor of E-Learning and Knowledge Management at Burgenland University of Applied Sciences, Programme Director of the Master’s programme in E-Learning and Knowledge Management, and Head of the ‘Instructional Design’ unit. She actively implements the integration of AI into teaching and assessment formats herself and shares this knowledge through professional development programmes. She regularly shares her theoretically grounded and practice-oriented perspectives in online talks, on LinkedIn and on her blog on Substack.
This update is for anyone who already uses AI and wants to understand what has changed and where the field is heading.
