ECTS credits are the internationally standardised and recognised “unit of value” for courses. Similarly to the standard semester hours per week used in Austria, ECTS credits describe the workload students can expect in a course.
ECTS credits were developed to facilitate student mobility between universities within Europe and to simplify the recognition of courses completed abroad.
In the ECTS information package, students and lecturers can find out everything about the university, the departments, the organisation and structure of the degree programmes and the courses (including ECTS credit allocation).
The ECTS information package serves as an orientation for the planned degree programme and as an aid for getting started as a student at the host institution.
