ECTS Guides

The abbreviation ECTS points refers to nothing more than the internationally standardised and recognised "unit of value" for courses. Similar to the standard semester hours per week used in Austria, ECTS points denote the amount of work a student can expect to put into a course.

ECTS points were developed to facilitate student mobility between universities within Europe and to simplify the recognition of courses completed abroad.

In the ECTS information package, students and university lecturers can find out everything about the universities, departments, organisation and structure of the degree programmes and the courses (including ECTS point allocation).

The ECTS information package serves as an orientation for the planned study programme and as an aid for starting studies at the host institution.
