For this reason, the University of Applied Sciences Burgenland presents various awards for outstanding achievements.
First-class research, innovative teaching concepts and particularly innovative staff concepts are honoured.
Since 2007, the Pannonia Research Award has honoured outstanding work on the topic of "Regional and European Future Issues" in the research areas of the University of Applied Sciences Burgenland . Teaching staff (full-time/part-time) and researchers as well as young researchers (diploma students and graduates) can submit entries, with specialist papers being honoured in the categories "Pannonia Research Award for Researchers" and "Pannonia Research Award for Young Researchers".
To mark its 25th anniversary in 2019, the University of Applied Sciences Burgenland established the "Pannonia Research Award Junior" for pupils from Burgenland, which has been awarded annually ever since.
Since 2020, the city of Pinkafeld has also been awarding a research prize for young researchers. The special prize of the city of Pinkafeld is intended to motivate students and graduates of the University of Applied Sciences Burgenland to conduct research and publish in the fields of energy & environment and health. By creating the "Special Award of the City of Pinkafeld", outstanding work on the topic of "future issues in the research areas of sustainability or health" is honoured or published.
With the Teaching Award, the University of Applied Sciences Burgenland emphasises innovative teaching. Teachers can submit their didactic concepts. The award honours concepts in the field of innovative teaching at the university within the Departments of Business Studies, Information Technology, Health & Social Sciences and Energy & Environment. This year's call for entries will focus primarily on the use of AI in teaching.
The Employee Award is aimed at employees of Burgenland University of Applied Sciences and its subsidiaries, who can submit their concepts for innovative ideas. These concepts can, but do not have to be realised yet. The award honours concepts submitted by employees in relation to their respective activities in the divisions or departments of the University of Applied Sciences Burgenland . These include suggestions or ideas, e.g. for process improvements, innovations or optimisations from their own area of work.
The International Award is intended to highlight the achievements of employees in the field of internationality and mobility, with a focus on international projects, teaching programmes and research achievements as well as general areas of activity in the field of international affairs.
With the new Sustainability Award, the University of Applied Sciences Burgenland is expanding its previous focus on gender and diversity in order to increasingly promote contributions to all aspects of sustainable development. Work submitted by students and graduates of the University of Applied Sciences Burgenland can deal with one or more ESG/SDG dimensions and/or specifically address individual aspects and objectives - from climate protection and gender equality to responsible corporate governance or social cohesion.
