Always in dialogue

All of this around PostgreSQL, a free database management system driven by an open-source community. Innovation and diversity within the PostgreSQL community are particularly important to her. This is another reason why she has now actively sought to reconnect with her former university, this time, however, in the role of a guest lecturer.

At University of Applied Sciences Burgenland, she completed both her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Information , Media & Communication. She undertook both programmes whilst working at a digital agency. As a project manager for web projects, she was able to apply what she had learnt at university directly in her job.

Following roles as Head of Marketing in the leisure industry and at CYBERTEC, she joined Microsoft at the start of this year as Principal Programme Manager for PostgreSQL.

In recognition of her achievements, she was recently nominated for the Austrian ‘Marketing Leader of the Year 2025’ award.

Her enthusiasm for the open-source community began after the first PostgreSQL conference she attended. “That’s when I realised just how strong this community is and that, even as a non-technician, I can make a valuable contribution. I still find that really exciting and have set up a PostgreSQL user group in Vienna.”

The skills she acquired whilst studying at Burgenland University of Applied Sciences, which she continues to put to good use in her job, are primarily project management, key performance indicators and performance measurement. The many presentations she gave during her studies have also paid off.
