Changing professional field

Iris Bole studied Controlling and Organisational Development at the University of Klagenfurt.

After several years working in project management and accounting, she wanted to develop her skills in the IT sector and enrolled on the Business Process Engineering & Management Master's programme at Burgenland University of Applied Sciences.

At that time, only the Burgenland University of Applied Sciences offered a programme in this direction. I also liked the setting, the part-time format with fortnightly attendance at the weekend.

What she appreciated about studying at the Burgenland University of Applied Sciences was the expansion of knowledge and "the fact that I was able to combine my daily work with what I learnt at the university. The interplay between theory and practice was exciting."

In 2018, she dedicated her Master's thesis to a seemingly utopian topic at the time. "I investigated whether audit processes in companies could be automated using blockchain technology." Today, just a short time later, such solutions are already being offered. "You can see how quickly my professional field is developing," she summarises.

She is currently working as a Business Solution Architect in Requirements Management at sdg - samlinux development group.

My job in the company is to describe the customer's requirements for software development. I am enthusiastic about developing software for customers together as a team that makes their daily work easier.

sdg - samlinux development group is currently working on the SaaS (Software-as-a-Service) solution VERIABLE for integrated e-learning. "With VERIABLE, we want to enable the verification of forgery-proof certificates as well as simple digital teaching and learning." The result should be an efficient and effective learning environment with the option of storing badges and training certificates in a public blockchain and verifying their authenticity.
