The event was hosted by Ostfalia University of Applied Sciences, which, together with Magdeburg-Stendal University of Applied Sciences, brought together students from the D-A-CH region. The five-day programme offered specialist insights and numerous opportunities for international exchange.
Following their arrival in Wolfsburg, the programme began with a get-together on the Ostfalia campus. The participating universities introduced themselves and their respective degree programmes, and students from Austria and Germany were given the opportunity to network. The joint evening event provided an opportunity for initial discussions and marked the start of a varied week.
Particular emphasis was placed on practical insights into the healthcare sector in the Wolfsburg region. On the second day, for example, the programme included a tour of the Volkswagen factory, featuring a visit to the VW Health Centre, which demonstrated how workplace health promotion and health management are implemented within a large corporation.
On Wednesday, there was a joint session at the SIM-Lab at Ostfalia University of Applied Sciences. Here, the students were able to experience realistic simulations and put their communication skills to the test in virtual reality simulation exercises. The afternoon was spent enjoying a spot of sport with a group bowling session.
Other practical highlights included a tour of Wolfenbüttel Hospital and a guided walking tour of the town under the theme ‘Strong women who shaped Wolfenbüttel’. The tour combined historical perspectives with inspiring life stories. The evening drew to a cosy close at the Wolfenbüttel Christmas market.
On Friday, the students visited the Centre for Outpatient Rehabilitation (ZAR) in Wolfsburg. There, they gained practical insights into rehabilitation services, interdisciplinary collaboration and modern, technology-assisted therapeutic approaches.
The five-day mobility programme highlighted just how valuable international collaboration is in the field of health management. Our students benefited not only academically but also personally: new contacts, enriching discussions and a deeper understanding of different approaches to healthcare systems across the German-speaking world made this trip a valuable experience.
