#GoodbyeEisenstadt - My internship in Pula

An internship offers students the opportunity to put their previously acquired knowledge to the test. Especially cool, of course, if you can go abroad. In our new blog post series "#GoodbyeEisenstadt - My internship abroad!" you can now read about the experiences of our students. For our first post in the blog post series, I had the pleasure of chatting to two students who are currently completing their internship at the Park Plaza Hotel Histria in Pula.

What's the point of having language skills if you can't put them into practice right away? That's exactly what we think, which is why we have included your internship abroad in the curriculum of the Bachelor's degree programme in International Business Relations.

Melanie & Erzsèbet - Internship at the Park Plaza Hotel Histria in Pula, Bachelor's programme International Business Relations

"The Park Plaza Hotel is a four-star hotel located on the Croatian peninsula of Punta Verudela and is the tourist symbol of the city of Pula," says Erzsèbet. A friend had already completed her internship here a few years ago and highly recommended the hotel as a place to do an internship.

For Melanie, this recommendation was the icing on the cake for her decision.

After all, she already knew in advance that Croatia, or rather the Galaxy restaurant, had the best pizza!

"Joking aside, the proximity to the sea was very important to me personally," Melanie writes to convince us that pizza wasn't the only reason she decided to do an internship abroad in Pula.

But what does a working day look like for you?

"A working day with us usually involves one of us working in the morning and the other in the afternoon. Our tasks include back and front office activities, such as checking guests in and out and checking invoices."

What about your free time? As well as working, can you enjoy the area and lie on the beach or go sightseeing?

"In the late afternoon, we usually go to the beach and in the evening to delicious cocktail bars in the old town, where we round off the day. At the weekend we usually visit the surrounding area, and of course we don't miss out on the discos in the evening."

You are now nearing the end of your internship. How did you like the internship overall?

The internship was a really great experience for me.

My work colleagues were very friendly and Pula is an ideal place to spend your free time after work in a variety of ways: sunbathing on the beach, hiking or discovering the fascinating Roman remains.

The Park Plaza Histria is simply a great hotel and an even better place to work.

I can only recommend it to everyone: Go abroad and do your internship there, you will take home so much more than just language and new friends :)

- Melanie
