In this role, she is involved in projects from start to finish - at her desk or on the construction site.
Inspired by her father, a foreman, she was already interested in technology as a child. She attended the technical college for construction technology at the HTL Pinkafeld and began her professional career at the same company where she still works today, Schwentenwein Baubetreuungs GmbH. She was initially a technical draughtswoman there. In 2020, she was asked to take over the supervision of wind farm projects. "I was thrown into it and it wasn't easy at first. But the new job made me realise that I was very interested in renewable energies."
She quickly found herself in a professional network that was teeming with graduates and students from the Department of Energy & Environment at Burgenland University of Applied Sciences. She was recommended the Bachelor's degree programme in Energy and Environmental Management and accepted the challenge. She passed the university entrance examination at the university (formerly FH) in Pinkafeld and is now in her final year of study.
The degree programme is interesting for me because it delves into many areas, e.g. environmental topics such as waste water, waste disposal and recycling. It's good that you get an insight into everything. Nevertheless, wind power has remained my passion and I plan to follow up my Bachelor's degree with a Master's in Sustainable Energy Systems.

What she particularly likes are the practical subjects, for example working in the lab, "because you get to know things on a different level and gain more understanding."
How do you reconcile work and study? Anyone familiar with the industry knows that it's not always 40 hours a week. "I often ask myself how I manage it, because studying is very time-consuming, but the university is very responsive to us working people. We receive a lot of support."
In her job, Sabrina carries out construction management services for energy suppliers. "I put out the tenders for earthworks and road construction or cable construction, deal with the necessary official channels, do the local construction supervision, coordination between the companies, as well as the final inspection and collauding. So my job is very varied - I'm not just in the office, but also on the construction site. I'm very happy with what I do."
As a woman in a male-dominated field, she hasn't had any bad experiences so far. Her advice to young women: "If it interests you, why should you do anything else? We women can learn just as much. I can only recommend the industry to you."
