"I came across the FH Burgenland website on the internet and found out about the Bachelor's degree programme in International Business Relations. The subjects and the combination with Eastern European languages appealed to me straight away. I speak Turkmen and Russian is my second official language. That's why I opted for Czech as a new language. Learning languages is important to me," enthuses the student.
Language learning is important to me
Annayeva graduated from high school in Turkmenistan in 2009 and came to Austria as an au pair. She had to overcome a few hurdles before she was allowed to study, as Turkmenistan only has a 10-year school system, whereas in Austria you need twelve years. She made up the missing two years by attending a business college. "I already knew when I was at school that I wanted to study abroad and then I was in Vienna as an au pair and decided to continue my education in Austria and do the degree." She chose to specialise in logistics for her degree and would also like to work in logistics.
"The structure of a university of applied sciences, the timetable and the lecturers are great because they communicate with students on an equal footing. Compared to many universities, the timetable is well structured." Her highlights are the excursion to Brussels, the many activities with the group and the internationality of the group. In future, she would like to work in the logistics sector in Austria or Russia. She will probably do her work placement at Erste Bank in Bratislava.
Her tip for anyone interested? "Learning new languages is always an advantage in today's working world. Eastern European languages in particular are in high demand in view of Austria's proximity and relations with Eastern Europe."
