Doris Rixrath heads the newly opened Josef Ressel Centre at Burgenland University of Applied Sciences.

She studied Energy and Environmental Management and Sustainable Energy Systems at the University of Applied Sciences Burgenland. She is currently working on her dissertation at Graz University of Technology on the topic of "Ecological Assessment of Energy Systems" and has been involved in more than 30 scientific publications to date.

Rixrath has more than 10 years of professional experience in the fields of energy, environment and research, including as a research assistant at Forschung Burgenland. She also teaches at the Burgenland University of Applied Sciences in the fields of energy and environmental management, life cycle assessment and environmental economics.

Doris Rixrath is very much looking forward to her new role as head of the research centre funded by the Federal Ministry for Digital and Economic Affairs.

A lot of work goes into preparing such a centre. I am delighted that we will be able to realise our plans with great partners over the next five years.

Securing a sustainable energy supply is the focus of the research centre at the Pinkafeld site of FH Burgenland. Over the next five years, the team led by centre manager Doris Rixrath will analyse complex integrated energy systems in order to make them more sustainable and efficient. The energy suppliers Energie Burgenland and Wien Energie are partners in this endeavour.
