New programme director for the Master's in Cloud Computing
He replaces Silke Palkovits-Rauter, who had been the interim head of the degree programme for a year. Ivkić has been passionate about computer science since his school days at the HTL in Wiener Neustadt. He has 14 years of professional experience in IT and studied for a Bachelor's degree in IT Infrastructure Management and a Master's degree in Business Process Engineering and Management at the Burgenland University of Applied Sciences while working.
During his studies, some of his papers were already published, as was his master's thesis at the 12th International Conference for Internet Technology and Secured Transactions in Cambridge (UK). Since autumn 2017, he has been employed as a researcher at the Research Center for Cloud & Cyber Physical Systems Security at Forschung Burgenland.
In 2018, he began his PhD studies at Lancaster University (UK), where he is researching cyber-physical systems, specifically in the field of "IT security".

Broken down, I ask the question: How much effort does it take for a cyber-physical system to establish or guarantee security? I have developed a model that can be used to calculate how much extra effort is required to provide IT security. Or to put it another way: how much does IT security actually cost at runtime?
Igor Ivkić , Head of degree programme
The father of two children, aged one and three, teaches computer science, business process modelling and project management. The 35-year-old is very much looking forward to his new role as head of the degree programme. "We are planning to bring the degree programme even closer to the needs of practice. Exciting projects and collaborations await."
