People are rethinking
These are primarily large and technically complex properties in Vienna for which your company, PKE Facility Management, is responsible for energy management.

A few years ago, we were still struggling to get through to customers with our energy-saving measures. Comfort and convenience were uncompromisingly our top priority. That has changed dramatically. And customers are also happy when I come up with my suggestions, because in addition to financial savings, doing something for the climate is now much more important to them.
Anna Nujic
"Doing something for the climate" - that was also her own motivation for choosing a technical career. "I graduated from a grammar school specialising in languages and had nothing to do with technology at all," she explains. But as a very nature-loving young woman, she was interested in environmental management and enrolled on the Bachelor's degree programme in Energy and Environmental Management at the University of Applied Sciences Burgenland in Pinkafeld. A challenging three years followed. "I was completely lacking in basic technical knowledge. Everything that was clear to my fellow students, who came from a technical college, was new territory for me."
The team spirit among the students was a key factor in Anna's success on the programme. The internship at PKE Facility Management GmbH was also eye-opening. She has remained loyal to her first employer. She was so interested in the field of energy management that she followed up her bachelor's degree with a technical master's programme in building technology and facility management.
Her job is to manage the energy data of very large and complex properties and to analyse and optimise their energy consumption.
Her company was recently recognised for its submission to theCO2 Countdown Award 2023. "It has been shown once again that you can achieve enormous energy savings even without investment and with very traditional measures."
Her most important expert tips:
- Adapt heating curves and set control parameters in the building
- Analyse and adjust the operating times and setback modes
- Reduce the setpoints for individual room control.
She can only recommend young people to go into her field professionally. "Our job is more in demand than ever and the EU taxonomy will do its bit to ensure that specialists are needed in sustainability reporting and energy management."
