Pokémon was the game of choice at the time and Martin's interest was piqued. The Gameboy was followed by the first stand-alone PC, then the ECDL driving licence. "I was already very interested in computer science lessons at school," he says. After AHS, he did an apprenticeship as an administrative assistant and office administrator at the Ministry of Justice and completed a computer science course at the Pinkafeld technical college.
He is now studying for a Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering and Networked Systems at the Burgenland University of Applied Sciences. "What I like best so far is the content on network technology and programming. I don't know exactly where I'm heading professionally because I have many interests." Martin's plan is to add the Master's degree programme in Cloud Computing Engineering to his Bachelor's degree. He has been self-employed since March.
As I was increasingly asked for help with IT problems in my immediate circle and beyond and realised how great the demand was in this area, be it smartphones, printers, servers, laptops or desktop PCs, I decided to set up my own company alongside my studies.

He takes care of the majority of IT problems, from small "aches and pains" such as backing up hard drives/smartphones to more complex problems such as expanding or rebuilding the WLAN or reconfiguring an office.
Why would he go into IT a second time? "First and foremost, there is definitely future security in the job. Nowadays you need IT almost everywhere. Secondly, you can realise yourself creatively - e.g. in programming"
