Josef Kretz graduated from a technical college for IT and then worked in IT support for several years.

In order to gain a higher qualification in the field of IT infrastructure, he decided to enrol on the IT Infrastructure Management Bachelor's degree programme at Burgenland University of Applied Sciences. Prior to this, he took advantage of the one-year preparatory course to obtain his university entrance qualification.

The preparatory course worked very well for me. It was organised on a part-time basis and we were really well prepared for what to expect during our studies.

In the meantime, he has also completed a Master's programme at the Burgenland University of Applied Sciences. In the Master's programme in Cloud Computing Engineering, he found the right preparation for the topics that are of intense interest to the IT industry. Professionally, he works as IT Support Manager & System Administrator at the pharmaceutical company AOP Orphan Pharmaceuticals and is very happy there. He receives job offers every day, he says.

All my colleagues in the field receive requests on LinkedIn every day. For me, it's several a week.

He advises people who don't have a school-leaving certificate but can imagine studying at university to follow his example. ‘The preparatory course opened important doors for me.’
