"I became aware of the International Business Relations degree programme through my friends, who also studied at the Burgenland University of Applied Sciences and recommended it to me. The programme really appealed to me. The proximity to my place of residence also proved to be very practical." Victoria previously attended the Pannoneum, a business and tourism school in Neusiedl am See specialising in tourism.

"I was very interested in the business subjects at the Pannoneum from the very beginning, so I knew early on that I wanted to study them in my future life. I initially decided to study Business Administration at WU in Vienna, but only studied there for just over a year as I realised that my ideas were actually quite different and that I didn't feel at home at such a large university and with the system there." The practical relevance of the degree programme, the lecturers from the field and the focus on Central and Eastern Europe in the Department ofEconomics at the Burgenland University of Applied Sciences then convinced Victoria in her choice.

As I grew up bilingual, my mother tongue is Polish, I also liked the focus on internationality in the degree programme and the combination of business and languages.

During her studies, she decided to specialise in tourism.

Victoria would not have missed the 3-week summer college in Croatia. "The summer college gave me the opportunity to repeat what I had already learnt at the UAS and to consolidate my language skills. My language skills improved a lot in a very short time. There were also plenty of leisure activities, such as the opening of the film festival in the Pula Arena or the trip to Rovinj, as well as learning folk dancing in the traditional costume of Istria."

The highlight of Victoria's degree programme was the 15-week work placement in Croatia. "As I opted for Croatian as a foreign language at the beginning of my degree programme, I completed my internship in Croatia in Pula at a 4-star hotel in Park Plaza Histria. It was one of my best experiences and I was able to gain a lot of new experience for my future career."

I have always found the combination of business and tourism content very exciting.

What does the future hold for her? "The degree programme is very wide-ranging and you can work in almost any industry afterwards. The fact that I have a pretty good command of languages means that I might be aiming for an international company after my Bachelor's degree. I have mostly worked exclusively in the tourism industry, but after this degree programme I would like to focus more on the international and business side."
