After a taster course in TV and radio presenting and editing, it was clear to Marlene Wimmer that she was looking for a degree programme that would pave her way into the media industry.

With the start of her Bachelor's degree programme in Information, Media & Communication, this wish is now coming true. Why did she choose UAS Burgenland from the wide range of study programmes on offer?

I generally find the concept of a university of applied sciences very appealing and I chose FH Burgenland because it is very practice-oriented and I was very enthusiastic about the degree programme. When I was looking around for suitable UASs and universities in the spring, I came across FH Burgenland through social media and took a closer look at the Instagram account. That's when I realised that this UAS was exactly what I was looking for.

Her first day at Campus Eisenstadt was very exciting, "because I didn't know anyone yet and I was really looking forward to this new stage in my life and still am. When I entered the building, I immediately felt at home and found my way around easily. Both the lecturers and my fellow students were very open and it was relaxed and open-minded right from the start."

Marlene is confident about starting her studies during the pandemic: "I am also optimistic that we will get through our studies well with the 3G rule and the Safe-FH concept."

Marlene has big plans for her future and correspondingly high expectations for her time at university: "As I would like to work in journalism later on, I hope to receive a sound education in the field of online media and communication science. I am very grateful that I was given the opportunity to study here and I am really looking forward to the next few years of my studies."
