The qualified healthcare and nursing professional Kevin Probst is one of the first graduates of the upgrade course in healthcare and nursing at Burgenland University of Applied Sciences.

He has every right to be proud of his achievements.

Successful completion of this academic course offers the opportunity to enter the 6th semester of the Bachelor's degree programme in Healthcare and Nursing at the Burgenland University of Applied Sciences and thus obtain a Bachelor's degree. Applicants who do not have a university entrance qualification can do this in parallel as part of the course via the preparatory course at FH Burgenland.

First and foremost, I wanted to develop personally and professionally.

Kevin Probst, graduate of the FH Burgenland

Having completed his Bachelor of Science in Health Studies, he now has the opportunity to apply for a further Master's programme in the field of health promotion and health research. He emphasises that the knowledge acquired on the course is very easy to incorporate into everyday working life. The course has changed a lot for him. "The requirement to solve care-related problems with a scientific approach based on evidence gives you a more critical view and you also start to scrutinise your own actions. This opens up the opportunity to break new ground."

He describes time management as a major challenge. "It wasn't easy to always give everything in my professional life and during my studies," says the ambitious student. According to Probst, he has received a lot of support from his ward manager, especially in the last year. "She gave me the opportunity to take part-time educational leave and made sure to keep the attendance days at the Burgenland University of Applied Sciences free of work as part of the rota organisation." Kevin Probst is now working full-time again as a qualified healthcare and nursing assistant at the University Clinic for Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care Medicine - Intensive Care 1 at Graz Regional Hospital. He also works part-time as a flight rescuer on the Christophorus 16 emergency helicopter in Oberwart.

His motivation for attending the course: "I learnt a new approach to problem solving through contact with healthcare and nursing students. My future colleagues motivated me to learn something new and think outside the box."
