Understanding connections

Christiane Staab

Julia Gangl began her Bachelor's degree in Energy and Environmental Management at the Burgenland University of Applied Sciences in September.

"I think it's perhaps due to the region that I've always been interested in renewable energies," she says. No wonder - wind farms characterise the landscape in Seewinkel. "The fact that we produce green electricity on our doorstep has fascinated me since I was a teenager." Technology is also in Julia's blood. Her father is a mechanic and the family has always supported her daughter's interest in technology. She is also involved in the family business, Schifffahrt Gangl, as a captain on Lake Neusiedl - at weekends and in summer.

Her main job is as a technical assistant at Netz Burgenland, a Burgenland Energie company. The job is extremely intensive, varied and Julia Gangl is very enthusiastic about it. So much so that she has now also decided to gain further academic qualifications for the job - even if that makes the next three years even more intensive.

I looked at a lot of degree programmes, but I kept coming back to the FH Burgenland. The overall package completely convinced me. The range of different subjects on the programme actually covers everything that I need in my job and that interests me. I expect to gain an even better understanding of the interrelationships in the complex field in which I work. And the part-time degree programme really suits me. The mix is ideal.

Julia Gangl, student

Three colleagues from her company alone started their studies with Julia. She also frequently encounters graduates of FH Burgenland in her professional environment. "That definitely creates trust in the educational institution."
