Part-time, full-time & co: the differences between the organisational forms
Full-time study programme
Students who choose to study full-time come to the study centre during the week, Monday to Friday. A job is only possible in the evenings or at weekends during your studies. Towards the end of the Bachelor's degree programme, you will spend three to four months on a work placement, possibly even abroad. Career-enhancing degree programme
Some Bachelor's degree programmes are designed in such a way that students have more flexibility to complete further education, volunteer or work a few hours alongside their studies. The lecture times on these degree programmes are blocked from Monday to Wednesday or a maximum of four days a week. For more information, please contact the degree programme of your choice.
Part-time study programme
If you are already working, you can attend the blocked courses at the weekends and can decide for yourself when and where you want to study thanks to the internet-based distance learning elements.
Depending on the course, you will be at the study centre every weekend, every second weekend or perhaps only once a month. The times you devote to online teaching also vary - it is best to find out more about this online on the degree programme of your choice. It is possible to study alongside a full-time job. However, we recommend that you agree a reduction in your weekly working hours to at least 30 hours with your employer.
Extended part-time study programme
Extended part-time study: For the Bachelor's degree programmes in the Department of Energy & Environment and the Bachelor's degree programme in Software Engineering and Networked Systems, there is also the ‘extended part-time study’ option: the degree programme lasts two semesters longer and therefore has a lower semester load.
