Alin Abdul Azeez studied mechanical engineering in India.

“My interest in pursuing a technical career mainly comes from my family”, he explains. “My brothers are engineers, and this was something that made me motivated to be an engineer too.” To achieve his goal he decided to come to Austria and study energy and environmental management at the University of Applied Sciences Burgenland.

Austria’s progressive stance on energy transformation is what appealed to me to come here. Upon searching for a suitable course, the UAS Burgenland in Austria had the tailor-made course for me which combined both the technical and management concepts within the energy and environmental fields

To get ready for this Master’s degree course, he first attended the Bridging Programme at UAS Burgenland, that is designed to improve foreign student’s language skills.

This was challenging for him: “Relocating from India to Austria was really difficult in the beginning. The bridging programme for international students helped to bring like-minded students from all over the world together and it was easy to meet and make friends with them. Additionally, the dialect and German language posed a problem in the early months but was quickly integrated and made easier with the help of the bridging programme.”

He found the Master’s degree programme in energy and environmental management to be very well structured. Also the interdisciplinary projects done during studies were really insightful on how to approach and solve real-life case studies.

Currently, Alin Abdul Azeez works as a global operations trainee for energy and sustainability development at RHI Magnesita, the global leader in refractories. “Within the energy, environment, and production department, I provide support with energy related topics and projects related to energy transformation.”

And what does Alin enjoy in his free time? “I’m a nature guy, love going for walks. I’m always up for learning new things too. Right now, I’m really into stargazing and astronomy.”
