Pioneering technologies
It is one of the oldest university of applied sciences degree programmes in Austria. However, it is by no means outdated. Modern and forward-looking technologies set the pace on the programme. It's a good thing that Nora and Sebastian are able to combine their practical work with their studies thanks to their jobs at Forschung Burgenland.
Nora is currently working intensively on the topics of redox flow batteries, fuel cells and hydrogen.

My work at Forschung Burgenland and my studies can be ideally combined. I gain insights into the latest research findings and, above all, working in a team is a lot of fun.

She works together with her colleague Sebastian on a regular basis. "Fuel cells and hydrogen are also topics that I'm currently working on. But the range is wide - I also worked on a project involving the efficiency assessment of heat pumps. In future, however, I would like to work more in the field of simulation technology," says Sebastian.
Both have been interested in technology since childhood, graduated from the HTL in Pinkafeld and then studied at the FH Burgenland on the bachelor's degree programme in Building Technology and Building Automation. "It was always clear to me that I wanted to do a Master's degree," says Nora. After all, Pinkafeld is regarded as a centre of excellence for innovative and highly trained technicians.
The work on site in the laboratory is particularly exciting for both of them. In the Energetikum, a living lab, research results can be tested in a real working environment.
Both plan to stay in research if the opportunity arises, but the job prospects in other areas are also very good.
