1,300 new students at the University of Applied Sciences Burgenland

Eisenstadt/Pinkafeld, 10 September 2026 – The winter term began in early September at the Eisenstadt and Pinkafeld study centres for 1,300 first-year students. The number of full-time students has thus risen to 3,200 – more than ever before. In addition, around 3,000 people are studying on a Master’s degree programme as part of academic continuing education.

It is well known that graduates benefit in particular from the practice-oriented education and the first-class student services.

Figures, data and facts on the start of the 2026/27 academic year

• 1,292 new students began their studies in September at both campuses.
• A total of 3,800 people applied for a place at the university.
• This meant there were three applications for every available place – placing the University of Applied Sciences Burgenland well within the average for Austrian universities and universities of applied sciences.
• Part-time study has been the most popular programme format for years. Around two-thirds of all full-time students have opted for this.
• A total of 19,500 people have so far completed a degree at the University of Applied Sciences Burgenland. This, too, is an all-time high.

Start of term at the new campus

Since September, students at the Pinkafeld campus have had access to a new, modern and ‘green’ campus. The library, canteen, study rooms, laboratories and SkillsLabs now offer ample space and a suitable infrastructure to provide the ideal environment for studying. 1,278 students from the Departments of Energy & Environment and Health & Social Sciences are already making the most of the campus.
