The Master’s Degree Programme in Cloud Computing Engineering at the University of Applied Sciences Burgenland has recently begun a partnership with the University of Limassol in Cyprus, which specialises in AI and data science. An initial visit to the university provided some fascinating insights.

Eisenstadt/Cyprus – 18 August 2026. For the past ten years, the Master’s Degree Programme in Cloud Computing Engineering at the University of Applied Sciences Burgenland in Eisenstadt has been focusing on the technical building blocks of digitalisation – the diverse fields of application relating to cloud computing and the Internet of Things (IoT). A new development since the last academic year is an international partnership with the University of Limassol in Cyprus. Under the agreement, a group of students from Cyprus travels to Eisenstadt once a year to attend the ‘Cloud Day’. In return, a group from Eisenstadt travels to Cyprus every year towards the end of the summer term. The exchange combines specialist insights with an intensive intercultural programme.

Getting to know the technologies, the country and its people

The University of Limassol offers a Bachelor’s Degree Programme in Computer Sciences with a focus on Artificial Intelligence and Data Sciences. In addition to the exchange with the university, one aspect was particularly exciting for the delegation from Burgenland: there are no fewer than three data centres in operation in Cyprus. During the visit, the group took the opportunity to talk to data engineers at one of these centres and learn about the latest practical developments.

For us, this is an important endorsement: we have our finger on the pulse of international issues. This exchange demonstrates just how relevant and applicable the content taught in Burgenland is in an international context.

The exchange is funded through the European Erasmus+ programme. Both sides are planning a long-term collaboration.
