In a small but all the more cordial setting, the University of Applied Sciences Burgenland awarded academic titles to graduates and the title of Honorary Professor (FH) to long-time lecturer and former programme director Peter J. Mayer at the Pinkafeld campus.

Pinkafeld, 21 July 2025 : Health scientist Peter J. Mayer was awarded an honorary professorship at the University of Applied Sciences Burgenland in the place where he worked for many years in teaching, research and, above all, the higher qualification of key employees in the healthcare sector. The lecturer, who has been associated with the university since 2009, is still active as a lecturer and supervisor of scientific papers after changing careers in 2024. Mayer lives in Baden and is delighted to receive the honorary title, which joins a large number of academic titles in the field of health and management science.

"For Peter J. Mayer, his profession is his passion. He always endeavours to support students in realising their personal potential. Numerous awards and outstanding careers of his former students prove him right," said Erwin Gollner, Head of the Department of Health & Social Affairs, in his laudatory speech.

22 graduates from various degree programmes also decided to celebrate their graduation on campus in a small group. They successfully completed Bachelor's and Master's degree programmes from the Departments of Energy & Environment and Health & Social Affairs. Representing Governor Hans Peter Doskozil, Christian Drobits, Member of Parliament, congratulated the graduates.
