Eisenstadt, 4 September 2026. The ‘Atlas of Good Teaching’showcases exemplary courses and teaching methods at colleges and universities across Austria. The aim is to highlight innovative approaches that provide students with particularly effective support in their learning and academic development.
The inclusion of one of our own projects in the Atlas of Good Teaching highlights the high priority placed on contemporary university teaching at the University of Applied Sciences Burgenland. It also demonstrates the extent to which we develop and utilise innovative formats to prepare students as effectively as possible for their future careers.

The project is called‘Research Questions Assistant’and is an AI-powered chatbot that supports students in developing, refining and reflecting on academic research questions. It deliberately does not provide ready-made solutions, but instead uses targeted follow-up questions, prompts and suggestions for reflection to encourage independent academic thinking.
The Research Question Assistant guides students step by step in narrowing down their research topic, selecting appropriate question frameworks and improving the quality of their research question. At the same time, the project strengthens important ‘future skills’ such as critical thinking, self-reflection and the responsible use of generative AI.
Between 150 and 200 projects are published annually in the Atlas of Good Teaching. In 2026, this is the first project from a Burgenland university.
