New semester starts for 1,100 students at UAS Burgenland

The Department for Information Technology was the first to start last weekend - with a full house.

Last weekend saw the start of the new semester at the University of Applied Sciences Burgenland. The university is delighted to welcome 1,100 new students. Bachelor's degree programmes in speech therapy and occupational therapy are also being offered for the first time.

Eisenstadt/Pinkafeld, 4th of September 2024. 1,100 new students are currently starting the new academic year at the study centers in Eisenstadt or Pinkafeld. This is an impressive and consistently high number, which the university is very pleased about.

We have earned a very good reputation in the higher education sector throughout Austria in recent years. Young people are attracted by the wide range of degree programmes we offer, the high level of practical relevance in our degree programmes and the personal atmosphere at the university.

Georg Pehm, Managing Director

As far as the ongoing expansion of the study programme on offer is concerned, UAS Burgenland continues to focus on future-oriented topics.

We have greatly expanded our range of degree programmes in recent years, particularly in the field of health, and are continuing to do so. We are also developing new degree programmes in information technology. In 2025/26, we will be offering a Bachelor's degree in Business Informatics and a Master's degree in AI Solution Engineering.

Gernot Hanreich, Rector

Numbers.data.facts about the start of the new semester

  • At the beginning of September, 1,101 people started the 15 Bachelor's and 13 Master's degree programmes offered by the Departments of Energy & Environment, Health & Social Affairs, Information Technology and Business.
  • Exactly two thirds of the new students opted for a part-time degree programme. Students study at weekends, i.e. on Friday afternoons and Saturdays on site and online. This form of study is very convenient for working people and has become one of UAS Burgenland's USPs.
  • Just over 650 women are among the first-year students in 2024/25 - so this trend also remains stable.
  • The high degree of internationalisation at the study centers in Eisenstadt and Pinkafeld is also interesting. 50 nationalities come together to study at UAS Burgenland.
