Verena Liszt-Rohlf (r) übernimmt das Vizerektorat für Forschung und Innovation an der Hochschule Burgenland von Gerda Füricht-Fiegl.
Eisenstadt, 28 July 2026. Around 170 projects involving a wide range of business and research partners are currently underway at the University of Applied Sciences Burgenland and its subsidiary, Forschung Burgenland. Both institutions are therefore the most important centres for public, applied research in Burgenland. In future, Verena Liszt-Rohlf will be responsible for research and innovation activities in her new role as Vice-Rector. She succeeds Gerda Füricht-Fiegl, who is moving to the University of Applied Sciences St. Pölten as Rector.
Verena Liszt-Rohlf has been working as a senior researcher in the Department of Business at the University of Applied Sciences Burgenland since 2022. Her areas of focus include international and national research, innovative forms of learning, and qualitative and quantitative research. Her academic career began at the University of Graz, where she studied Business Administration and Business Education. She later obtained her PhD in Business Education there. She has also held positions at several universities in Austria and Germany, specialising in higher education pedagogy and entrepreneurship education. In April 2026, the University of Graz awarded her the ‘Venia Legendi’ in the habilitation subject of Business Education. She lives with her family in Oberwart.
I am committed to openness towards collaboration and the courage to break new ground. I would like to actively bring this approach to bear in my role as Vice-Rector and to further strengthen it. It is particularly important to me to raise the profile of our university’s applied research and innovation activities.

Gerda Füricht-Fiegl has shaped research and innovation at our university with great dedication and vision.
