Successful start: A full house at the start of the Information Technology programme at Burgenland University of Applied Sciences.

September marks the start of a special chapter for more than 1,200 new students: they begin their studies on one of the 18 Bachelor's and 14 Master's degree programmes in the Departments of Energy & Environment, Health & Social Affairs, Information Technology and Business at Burgenland University of Applied Sciences. Interest in the practice-oriented degree programmes is consistently high.

Eisenstadt/Pinkafeld, 2 September 2025 - The winter semester is about to begin for over 1,200 new students at the study centres in Eisenstadt and Pinkafeld. Students are starting their studies at the "University of Applied Sciences Burgenland" for the first time. "We were one of the first universities of applied sciences in Austria to opt for this further development and have received consistently positive feedback from students, lecturers and the business community," emphasises Managing Director Georg Pehm. "The advantages for students lie in a clear focus, better international recognisability of the degrees and a further strengthening of research and innovation."

It is well known that graduates benefit above all from the application-orientated education and first-class student services. “Those who graduate from our university practically have a job guarantee in their pocket,” Pehm stresses. “That is a particular strength.”

Currently, University of Applied Sciences Burgenland offers a total of 18 bachelor’s and 14 master’s degree programs as well as more than 60 continuing education master’s programs at its two study centers in Eisenstadt and Pinkafeld. Over 7,700 students are currently enrolled, both full-time and part-time, across the four departments – Energy & Environment, Health & Social Affairs, Information Technology, and Business.

In terms of content, the university is increasingly focussing on future-oriented topics. Four new degree programmes are also starting in the winter semester: the Bachelor's degree programmes in Biomedical Analytics, Radiology Technology, Business Informatics and the Master's degree programme in AI Solution Engineering. They complement the existing programmes and respond to the increasing demand for specialists in these fields.
