"Very good" candidates can submit their work for the Pannonia Research Award Junior 2026 at the University of Applied Sciences Burgenland

The University of Applied Sciences Burgenland is once again organising the annual Pannonia Research Award Junior. Pupils at schools in Burgenland can apply for the junior research award with their project, diploma or final thesis. The application deadline is 10 May 2026.

Eisenstadt, 9 April 2026 - An important milestone on the way to the Matura is the submission of a project, diploma or final paper. The students have been working on these over the past weeks and months. "Very good" candidates can submit their work for the Pannonia Research Award Junior 2026 at the Burgenland University of Applied Sciences. The application deadline is 10 May.

Opportunity for pupils in Burgenland

Excellent work by high school graduates from Burgenland has been honoured in recent years. The university team is looking forward to exciting submissions again this year. All high school graduates from schools in Burgenland are invited to submit their project, diploma or departmental theses or final papers (formerly VWA), which were completed as part of the Matura and graded "very good", to the University of Applied Sciences Burgenland for the Pannonia Research Award Junior. A specialist jury consisting of experts from the university will assess and judge the work and the best work in each of the four categories will be honoured, as well as a special prize.

Awards

In the categories Energy & Environment, Health & Social Affairs, Information Technology and Business, a prize of € 300 will be awarded EACH.

A special prize of € 100 is also awarded for work that does not fall into any of the categories.

Conditions of participation

- High school graduates from a Burgenland school in the school year 2025/26

- Assessment of the work as "very good"

- A project, diploma or departmental thesis or a final thesis depending on the type of school must be submitted

- Submissions by individuals as well as groups are possible

Time frame

The work must be submitted by 10 May 2026 at the latest by email to hochschulpreis(at)hochschule-burgenland.at with the following information

- Name, address, e-mail and telephone of the submitter and supervisor, school

- curriculum vitae

- Abstract of the work max. 1,000 characters (topic, objective, research question)

- Paper (pdf format or link to podcast or video by e-mail)

The award ceremony will take place on 1 July 2026, 5 p.m., at the University of Applied Sciences Burgenland at the Eisenstadt Study Centre.
