Specialist medical staff at a high level
Pinkafeld, February 4th 2025: From autumn 2025, Burgenland University of Applied Sciences will be setting new standards in the training of healthcare professionals. The Bachelor's degree programmes in Radiology Technology and Biomedical Analytics will open the door for future students to two sought-after professional fields that are characterised by technological innovation and scientific excellence. The aim is not only to train urgently needed specialists, but also to actively contribute to the further development of modern diagnostics and therapy.
Shaping the healthcare of tomorrow

The healthcare sector is facing enormous challenges - not least due to rapid technological progress and the growing demand for precise diagnoses and treatments. With the new Radiology Technology and Biomedical Analytics degree programmes, Burgenland University of Applied Sciences is helping to actively shape the healthcare of tomorrow.
Erwin Gollner, Head of the Department of Health & Social Affairs
At the Pinkafeld campus, future specialists are already receiving scientifically based and highly practice-orientated training in the fields of healthcare and nursing, physiotherapy, midwifery, speech therapy and occupational therapy. After just three years of study, they can enter the profession and quickly relieve the burden on the healthcare system. Management in the healthcare sector is also covered with the Bachelor's degree in Health Management and Health Promotion and the Master's degree programmes in Health Management and Integrated Care or Health Promotion and Human Resource Management. Students will continue to study at the Pinkafeld campus - even during the current renovation phase. It should be possible to move into the ultra-modern Green Campus in summer 2026.
Relief for the clinical area
Above all, the new two degree programmes are intended to ease the burden on the clinical area, says Gollner. "The aim must be to ensure smooth processes - both in hospitals and in private practice - for the benefit of patients. At the Burgenland University of Applied Sciences, we are training precisely these specialists to carry out CT and MR examinations as well as laboratory diagnostics."

In an increasingly technologised healthcare system, radiological technologists are indispensable specialists. They work directly at the interface between state-of-the-art medical technology and human health.
David Rupprecht, designated programme director
Study programme covers interest in technology and health
The two new Bachelor's degree programmes create a completely new range of courses for those interested. For the first time, the university is training students for jobs at the interface between technical and social professions. Natural science subjects such as chemistry, biology and physics play a key role in the programme.

Biomedical analysis is a very wide-ranging and therefore very varied and interesting professional field. The technical innovations enable constant further development of the professionals. This job offers the opportunity to be involved in both diagnostics and research and thus make an essential contribution to excellent healthcare.
Maria Bemelmans, designated head of degree programme
The two degree programmes also boast a very high proportion of work placements - Radiology Technology even has the highest in Austria. Enrolment is already possible. There are no tuition fees for studying at the Burgenland University of Applied Sciences and the academic degree entitles students to continue on to a Master's degree programme.
