Students develop innovative start-up strategies
Eisenstadt/Vienna, 28 October 2025 : The International Sustainable Business Bachelor's degree programme, the first Bachelor's degree programme in Austria to focus on sustainable business, is entering into an exciting collaboration with the Viennese start-up Orbyz. Over the coming weeks, two groups of students on the international programme will be working on key strategic projects for Orbyz as part of their studies.
The first group will produce a comprehensive analysis of different financing models, while the second group will focus on building and strengthening the community. Each group consists of four to five international students who will use their expertise in market research and corporate finance to help the start-up grow. Their expertise in consumer behaviour and alternative forms of financing in particular make this special collaboration possible. In addition, the shared values and international orientation are also a common bond.
A degree programme with vision
The Bachelor's degree programme at University of Applied Sciences Burgenland is an innovative programme that treats sustainability not as a peripheral issue, but as the core of the course. The first graduates will complete their studies this summer.

"We have visionary and committed students on the programme who look beyond the conventional business studies curriculum and want to make a real difference in the world"
...explains programme director Josefine Kuhlmann.
Orbyz - A network for sustainable impact
Orbyz, founded in Vienna in 2024, is the first European platform to combine a social network, digital knowledge platform and sustainable business community. The ad-free platform connects companies, start-ups, science, media, NGOs and institutions working together on solutions to environmental, social and economic challenges and offers space for content relating to the circular economy, biodiversity, the mobility transition, fair supply chains, sustainable finance and education.
Founder Caroline Gager-Palfy sees the collaboration with the university as a win-win cooperation.
"The collaboration between the International Sustainable Business Bachelor programme and Orbyz is a successful example of the combination of academic education and practical application. Students are given the opportunity to apply their knowledge in a real-life context, while Orbyz benefits from the students' fresh ideas and innovative approaches."
Caroline Gager-Palfy, founder of the start-up Orbyz
