University of Applied Sciences as research partner in Wwww3_FutureFit project: funding pot with 10 x 1,000 euros for schools
Pinkafeld, 7 April 2026 : For years, the Department of Energy & Environment at University of Applied Sciences Burgenland has been pursuing the approach of sensitising children and young people to climate and sustainability issues as early as possible. Several projects entitled wwww - How do we want to live? have already been successfully run in collaboration with regional partners. With the FFG - Talente regional project "Wwww3_FutureFit: Wie werden wir wohnen - klimafit ist zukunftsfit", University of Applied Sciences Burgenland is once again targeting young people and awarding 10 cooperation grants of 1,000 euros each to educational institutions throughout Austria as part of the project.
Living in the future - climate-friendly and climate-resilient
At the centre of the project is the question: "How will we live? Climate-friendly and climate-resilient?" Children and young people will explore climate-friendly buildings and learn how architecture, building technology and user behaviour interact and influence comfort, energy consumption and resource requirements. The aim is to show young people how they can actively shape their own living space.
Applications for grants now open
According to the first come first serve principle, educational institutions throughout Austria are now invited to apply for a co-operation grant. This is a lump sum grant totalling 1,000 euros. This makes it possible to bring children and young people into contact with exciting topics from science and technology as part of their lessons. All kindergartens and schools throughout Austria can use it to realise teaching projects for which no financial resources are available in their own institution.
Applications are submitted by the respective teachers directly to the project management.

Knowledge transfer via pupils to parents
The project runs until the end of May 2028 and includes numerous activities as part of a Research Factory. Pupils from partner schools take on the role of researchers and learn about current research, technology and innovation developments relating to climate-friendly buildings. This is implemented using playful, active and creative didactic methods as part of the lessons. In addition, Research Buddies accompany the long-term research activities and act as role models.
Particularly innovative are the cross-educational and cross-school level knowledge cascade workshops, in which older pupils learn from each other as "senior researchers" and younger ones as "junior researchers". In addition, parent workshops with theatre pitches, station activities and a travelling exhibition on the topic of climate-friendly buildings convey key project content to the family context.
During "walking talks" with innovative companies, pupils gain insights into regional careers in technology and research in connection with climate-friendly buildings. This creates a sustainable network between educational institutions, scientific institutions and companies.
All project results are collected in a digital pool and are available to educators and interested groups in the long term - even beyond the duration of the project.
School partners are: HTL Pinkafeld, NMS Lockenhaus, NMS Oberpullendorf, VS Lockenhaus, VS Pilgersdorf, VS Unterrabnitz.
