Werner Stutterecker new Vice-Rector of University of Applied Sciences Burgenland

Head of the Bachelor's degree programme in Building and Energy Technology Werner Stutterecker was elected Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs by the Board of the University of Applied Sciences Burgenland in December.

 

Eisenstadt/Pinkafeld, 12 January 2026 - The election of the new Rector Bettina Schauer-Frank in October was followed before Christmas by the election of the Vice-Rector, i.e. the deputy head of the College of the University of Applied Sciences Burgenland. The Board of Governors, the centrepiece of academic self-administration, is autonomously responsible for all matters relating to studies, teaching and examinations. It consists of a total of 18 elected representatives of the heads of degree programmes, around 700 full-time and part-time university lecturers and more than 7,000 students.

Managing Director of University of Applied Sciences Burgenland, Georg Pehm, congratulates Werner Stutterecker on behalf of the staff: "I am convinced that Werner Stutterecker will make a valuable contribution to the further development of our university with his experience as a lecturer, programme director and member of the faculty."

About the person

DI(FH) DI Werner Stutterecker, PhD. born in 1976, has been associated with University of Applied Sciences Burgenland since 2007 - first as a research assistant at Forschung Burgenland for several years, and since 2016 as head of the Bachelor's degree programme in Building and Energy Technology. The trained maths teacher taught in Vienna and New York before completing a diploma and master's degree in Energy and Environmental Management at University of Applied Sciences Burgenland. He wrote his dissertation at the Technical University of Bratislava. He has been a member of the University College since 2023.

University of Applied Sciences Burgenland currently offers 32 Bachelor's and Master's degree programmes at two study centres in Eisenstadt and Pinkafeld. More than 7,000 regular and non-degree students are currently studying in four departments, namely Energy & Environment, Health & Social Affairs, Information Technology and Business, as well as in continuing education programmes. In 2024, University of Applied Sciences Burgenland took the opportunity to adapt its former name Fachhochschule to the English term University of Applied Sciences. In 2023, University of Applied Sciences Burgenland celebrated its 30th anniversary. In the winter semester 2025/26, the university recorded more than 16,500 graduates.
