Wine and Food Marketing: study programme repositions itself
Eisenstadt, 15 April 2026 For over 20 years, the University of Applied Sciences Burgenland has been training marketing experts for the wine industry at its Eisenstadt location. Graduates are successful in wine companies, the wine trade, catering, etc. The two-year degree programme, which is organised on an extra-occupational basis, is now adapting to changes in the market. An expansion to include the food sector increases the job opportunities for alumni in times of falling consumption figures for wine and other alcoholic beverages. Interested students can already apply. There are 25 study places available. Extra-Occupational means on site approximately every four weeks on Friday, Saturday and Sunday with additional online lessons during the week in the evening. There are no tuition fees.

Director of degree programme Marcus Wieschhoff
The degree programme is ideal for people who are looking for a career at the interface between the wine and food industries. There are jobs for graduates in: Marketing and brand management in the wine and food industry; product and innovation management along the food and beverage value chain; sales and export management; trade marketing and category management; communication, event and digital marketing; tourism and destination marketing or in the strategic management of regionality, origin and sustainability concepts in companies, organisations and media.
New, but still unique
In addition to the new content, the Master's degree programme, which celebrated its 20th anniversary in 2024, still retains its uniqueness in the German-speaking world. International guest lecturers, excursions to exciting regions and industry-specific English ensure an international focus. Admission requirements include a first degree from a recognised domestic or foreign post-secondary educational institution. Various specialisations from business to natural sciences or law are recognised. Subject to approval by the AQ - Agency for Quality Assurance - Austria, the repositioned degree programme can start under its new name in autumn 2026.
