It is one of the biggest problems facing our planet and is currently on everyone's lips: waste. In several degree programmes at Burgenland University of Applied Sciences, the decision-makers of tomorrow are dealing with sustainable solutions and innovative technologies relating to waste. Katharina Moritz confirms that professionals in the industry also benefit from the content taught at FH Burgenland. The Managing Director of the Knittelfeld Waste Management Association has been working in waste management for nine years and decided to gain a higher qualification on the Bachelor's degree programme in Energy and Environmental Management at Burgenland University of Applied Sciences. She particularly appreciates the breadth of the programme.

An interdisciplinary education is important for a job in waste management. The degree programme is a great enrichment for me.

After graduating from a commercial academy, her own environmental awareness led her into the industry. Now, with 20 employees, she is responsible for waste disposal for eight municipalities and 32,000 inhabitants. She is convinced that young experts are urgently needed in this field. It is important to define correct disposal methods and develop new technologies to counteract the damage to our environment caused by waste. The mother of three would now like to gain further qualifications in a Master's degree programme in Energy and Environmental Management.
