Shukurgeldi Myradov is a United Nations Youth Ambassador for his home country of Turkmenistan.

He has been internationally active in this role for several years. Among other things, he attended the UN Climate Change Conference of Youth in Dubai in November last year. In his home country, he studied information and communications technology. Currently, he is enrolled in the international Bridging Programme at University of Applied Sciences Burgenland. This programme enables students from abroad to acquire the language skills required for studying in Austria.

In addition, Shukurgeldi graduated from the Academy of Preventive Diplomacy organised by the UNRCCA and was awarded the Youth Peace Prize at the 2021 Peace Forum in Pyeongchang, Republic of Korea.

“I see the promotion of high-quality education as the most important tool to mobilise the youth and contribute to social progress,” says Shukurgeldi.

Participating in the UN COY18 in Dubai was not only an opportunity for me, as a UN Youth Ambassador and activist, but a personal commitment. Bringing together young people from around the world to collectively address the pressing challenges of climate change has strengthened my conviction that young people have a crucial role to play in this global endeavour.

"For me, it is vital to attend and contribute to such events because they not only provide knowledge and perspectives, but also create a powerful network of like-minded people. At a time when the effects of climate change are becoming increasingly tangible, youth cooperation is crucial to develop innovative solutions and bring about change.

My future aspirations include representing the youth of my home country, Turkmenistan, as well as the youth in the country where I study, Austria. As a link between these worlds, I strive to build bridges and strengthen the voices of youth on an international level. Through my involvement in global forums such as COY18, I aim to initiate positive change and shape a sustainable future for generations to come.”
