As sustainable and energy-efficient as possible - that's how Patrick Höfler's dream home should be.

And, as he was looking for a topic for his final thesis for his Master's degree in Building Technology and Building Management anyway, he simply planned the house himself.

That was seven years ago and everything is still running smoothly for the young Höfler family in the low-energy house, which is heated and cooled with a combination of geothermal heat pump, solar system, hygienic storage tank and brine storage tank.

I have always been interested in heating technology and building services engineering.

Patrick Höfler, graduate of the Burgenland University of Applied Sciences

He began to familiarise himself with building services at a young age. After the early loss of his father, he increasingly took on responsibility for building services in the family environment and was able to gain valuable practical experience.

He graduated from HTL Pinkafeld and began working in a technical office for renewable energy systems immediately after completing his A-levels.

Patrick Höfler soon realised that he also wanted to take a closer look at these topics from a scientific perspective. He completed a Bachelor's degree in Energy and Environmental Management at the Burgenland University of Applied Sciences and went on to complete a Master's degree in Building Technology and Facility Management.

Parallel to the Master's degree programme in Building Technology and Management, he began designing and building a house together with his partner. After moving in, a data analysis provided valuable results. In addition to the joy of successfully completing his studies, there was also the confirmation that all the plans and calculations were correct. Living in the house of his dreams has been a complete success.

Patrick Höfler now works as a project manager in an installation company. The expertise he acquired during his studies and through building houses is in great demand from his customers - from companies to house builders.
