Travelling the world by sailboat

Sailboat at sea

From the Master's examination straight into an even greater adventure. Since July, Vivien Mileder, a graduate of the Master's degree programme in E-Learning and Knowledge Management at Burgenland University of Applied Sciences, has been travelling the world with her partner on their almost 11-metre-long sailing boat.

You can follow them on Facebook, Instagram and their website under Sailing-Ventura. "I can now apply the knowledge I learnt during my studies on the road and work remotely thanks to what I've learned," says Vivien in the Zoom interview she conducted with us from Cape Verde in December.

After several years in the classroom, the primary school teacher decided to gain a higher qualification in e-learning and knowledge management. She completed her studies in June. The Burgenland-Croatian, who also teaches bilingual classes, developed a chatbot for primary school children for her master's thesis.

Many of these colleagues will probably be following Vivien's journey around the world with enthusiasm. She set off from Amsterdam after completing her Master's degree. The two adventurers can imagine being at sea for up to two years.

"We learn something new every day. You constantly have to repair things on board, the weather can be challenging - but that's how we always stay flexible. For us, the journey is the destination. There are wonderful places to discover everywhere."

Vivien Mileder, graduate of the Master's programme in e-learning and knowledge management
