View everything from different perspectives
At school, a HLW, he decided to specialise in health, wellness and social work, after which he completed his community service in Güssing. He has remained loyal to the Red Cross ever since.
He began his academic career in 2014 with the Health and Nursing degree programme at the Rudolfinerhaus campus in Vienna. In autumn 2020, he began his Master's degree in Health Promotion and Human Resource Management at the Burgenland University of Applied Sciences. His master's thesis is dedicated to the topic of Long Covid. In it, he compares the existing scientific literature with therapeutic approaches in hospitals and rehabilitation centres.
Unfortunately, Christopher has rarely met his fellow students in person at the Pinkafeld campus. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the majority of his studies took place via distance learning.
Lifelong learning through theoretically sound knowledge and the evidence of good practice
Christopher has been working in the outpatient clinic at Hartberg Regional Hospital since 2017 and is also a hygiene officer at the hospital. The degree programme at FH Burgenland brings him great added value for his job.

During our studies, we research evidence-based literature on topics of our own interest and learn about evidence-based approaches that we can put into practice. I've already been able to gain a lot of practical experience, but you still learn something new every day.
Christopher Schuch, student at the FH Burgenland
He particularly likes the different insights into the settings of health promotion - "you can look at everything from different perspectives."
Volunteering from the perspective of society
Christopher has remained loyal to the Red Cross since completing his civilian service and has completed training as an emergency paramedic, in emergency medicine and venous access. He manages one or two shifts a week. "What motivated me to stay with the Red Cross was my interest in emergency care. I'm very interested in both ambulance missions, where independent work and patient assessment are crucial, and NEF missions, which require assistance with emergency medical measures."
In the course of my voluntary work, I have made many lifelong friends that I would not want to miss.
In addition to medical care for patients, he also prioritises psychological support. "With good, caring information, anxiety and pain can be alleviated. I want to be there for people with professional information and explain the situation to them in a way that they understand."
