Career change after 10 years

"I'm going to work in the office for a bit after school" turned into 10 years in accounting for Barbara Pfeiffer.

It wasn't until 2023 that she dared to break new ground by starting to study in the field of health. In her private life she has actually always focussed on health issues. Her interest grew over the years and she began to train in the field of aromatherapy.

Whilst still working full-time, Sabrina Pfeiffer set up a business as an aromatherapist. She had been flirting with the Bachelor's degree programme in Health Management and Health Promotion for some time. After the course was offered in the career-enhancing organisational form, her last doubts have disappeared. "We have face-to-face classes from Monday to Wednesday. This allows me to combine my studies with my self-employment. From Thursday onwards, I can organise my studies flexibly," she explains. Part of her job is counselling clients, and she also holds workshops and lectures, for example in schools. There is now no time left for the office job, but Sabrina Pfeiffer is happy to accept that.

She found studying very exciting in her first year.

We toughed  the three major topics of mental health, exercise and nutrition and I now know that I want to develop further in the direction of workplace health promotion.

Apart from the content-related aspects of the degree programme, what she has learned so far is "that everything can be achieved through practical orientation, teamwork and projects. This is contrary to my previous professional experience and very fulfilling for me."
