"I always wanted to work in the healthcare sector. My parents both work as doctors in hospitals, so we talked more about medical matters at the dinner table than about the daily news. My goal back then was to be able to have a say at some point. I would say that I'm now well on the way to achieving it. Viktoria Klug is certainly well on her way, as she is studying for a Bachelor's degree in Health Management and Health Promotion at the Pinkafeld site.
The UAS gave me the opportunity to combine health and management - both were (and still are) subjects that fascinate me immensely. The wide range of career prospects and the opportunity to find my own path were particularly decisive factors in my decision in favour of the UAS.

The "human factor" was a decisive factor in Viktoria's choice of degree programme. "At first it was just anatomy, but later the psychosocial aspect and how people treat their greatest asset - their health. The degree programme at FH Burgenland combined everything that I considered important or interesting for me." She puts it like this: "What keeps a person healthy? What can I do to stay healthy myself and how can I create opportunities and structures to offer other people a healthy environment? How can I lead in a healthy way?" - I wanted to be able to answer all these questions and that's exactly what I'm currently learning."
She found out about the degree programme through her mother, as she had already attended a number of training courses at Burgenland University of Applied Sciences and knew the location well. Viktoria graduated from the ZBG in Oberwart, specialising in Hungarian. She then went to Graz and began studying molecular biology and ancient history before deciding in favour of FH Burgenland.
"I have been interested in the subject of health for a very long time, I would say that my parents awakened this love in me. My fascination for management and organisation was added in recent years. I would say since I left "Hotel Mama" and had to learn to organise myself and manage things. My fascination with health promotion has developed over the course of my studies," says the student.
The various elective subjects and the complexity of hospital management and health promotion are highlights of her degree programme.
When asked what she would like to be doing professionally in five years' time, Viktoria replies: "At the moment, I'm very much leaning towards "workplace health promotion", maybe I'll be working in a company and looking after staff and their health. Or maybe I'll work in a hospital and look after the management there. I haven't decided 100% yet, but one thing is certain - I will work with people and their health will be my top priority."
