Great enthusiasm for technology

Philipp Grof, a qualified mechanical engineer, has been studying building technology at the University of Applied Sciences Burgenland for five years.

He has always been enthusiastic about technology, he says. His apprenticeship was followed by a few years on the job. Then came the realisation: "There has to be more."

He attended a one-year, free preparatory course at University of Applied Sciences Burgenland and gained the admission to study for a Bachelor's degree in Building and Energy Technology. He completed this while working and then decided to continue his studies on the Master's degree programme in Building Technology and Facility Management. How does one manage that? "With very good time management," says Philipp. Every day after work, he took an hour off and then devoted two hours a day to his studies. Much more at the weekend, of course. He received support and encouragement from those around him.

The enthusiastic mathematician is particularly fascinated by the fields of applied measurement and control technology. After completing his bachelor's degree, he worked at Forschung Burgenland and supported the FIRST (Fully Integrated Reversible Solid Oxide Cell System) project. "My work involved planning and building a reversible fuel cell and setting up electrolysers," he explains. He will start his new job at TBH Ingenieur GmbH in August. "I'm already looking forward to covering a broader spectrum there."

He can only recommend his studies to technology enthusiasts like himself.

The part-time organisational form is simply ideal and the personal support at UAS Burgenland is truly unique.
