I came here to ride my mountainbike, I stayed to study
"I realised as a pupil that I wanted to go into the natural sciences," explains Frederik. He completed his Bachelor's degree in Energy, Mobility and Environmental Management at the FH Joanneum in Kapfenberg. He chose the Burgenland University of Applied Sciences for his Master's degree because of the breadth of the programme.
Looking back, he knows that the degree programme was a very good decision. He was particularly impressed by the technical equipment in the laboratories at the Pinkafeld campus.
He thought it was great to be able to immediately apply what he had learnt at university to his job. Frederik already worked as a project engineer at the start-up Swimsol GmbH during his studies. "There is so much to do in the energy sector. I was promoted to project manager in my third year."
His company installs floating solar systems in offshore regions such as the Maldives and Seychelles.

I really like the topic of PV, but I'm interested in the entire energy sector. There were so many interesting subjects at university, such as electrolysis, thermal power stations and wind power. I would also like to deal with these topics.
