Interview series #3: Would I recommend my Bachelor's degree programme to my best friend?
My name is Johanna Leeb and I am 22 years old. I am currently studying for a Master's degree in Health Promotion and Human Resource Management. Before that, I studied the Bachelor's degree programme in Health Management and Health Promotion and asked myself whether I would recommend this Bachelor's degree programme to my best friend?

I think one of the great advantages of our UAS is that everything here is very personal. The lecturers know the students by name and it feels like everyone knows everyone else. Perhaps the situation is best summarised as follows: Education through encounters.

Why this degree programme?
I have always been fascinated by the world of hospitals. However, I realised that I didn't want to become a nurse or a doctor. I graduated from HAK Frauenkirchen and one day a tutor came to the school and told me about the Bachelor's degree programme in Health Management and Health Promotion. My interest was aroused there and after the open day I realised: that's what I want to study!
During my studies, I decided to specialise in medical documentation. I was simply fascinated by coding using ICD-10 and topics such as anatomy, physiology and pathology.
Journey
At the time of my bachelor's degree, I was still living with my parents in the Neusiedl district and I travelled there alone by car. There are plenty of free car parks on site. I now live in Vienna for work reasons and I carpool with my colleagues.
Travelling by public transport would have been very difficult at the time. There were bus connections, but they were actually too difficult to organise for the boarding school students and with their studies.
Studying as a group
I always liked my fellow students and still get on very well with them today. Some of them are also doing their Master's degree at FH Burgenland. Unfortunately, we only saw each other very rarely during the Bachelor's programme due to corona, but that can't stop us from maintaining our friendships now.
The lecturers at the FH

Study location
As a student of the Department of Health, I have to say that the campus is very spacious, which of course has many a positive effect on my health. But I'm still looking forward to the newly remodelled campus.
Pinkafeld itself is of course not a metropolis of millions, it's just small and nice.
Internship
I actually did my work placement at Wiener Gesundheitsverbund and now work there part-time. I learnt a lot during my internship that I can put to good use in my current job.
I liked that a lot ...
My expectations of the degree programme have actually all but been fulfilled. Above all, the atmosphere at the UAS and the relationship between the people at the UAS is simply something very special.
... that rather less
Of course, it was a shame that we ‘fell over’ in terms of social life. Unfortunately, there was only one student party and no excursions, but that was due to the pandemic.
Conclusion
I would recommend my degree programme to my best friend in a heartbeat. But beware: once you're used to the family atmosphere at FH Burgenland, you won't want to study anywhere else. That's why I did my Master's degree at FH Burgenland.
