Building technology graduate Matthias Krammer actually always saw himself working in a planning office. However, he is now passionate about research and is part of the Research Burgenland team.

A technical career was always clear. Like his father, Matthias graduated from HTL Pinkafeld, where he decided to specialise in building services engineering. After a brief diversions to the Technical University in Graz, he returned to Burgenland and enrolled on the bachelor's degree programme in Building and Energy Technology at the Burgenland University of Applied Sciences. He completed his internship at Forschung Burgenland, a subsidiary of the university, and was then taken on permanently.

He completed a part-time Master's degree in Building Technology and Facility Management and was honoured with the "Future Talent Award" from FMA - Facility Management Austria for his Master's thesis(LINK), which was written as part of a research project.

He greatly appreciated the practical relevance of his studies.

Matthias Krammer

The Master's programme in particular prepared me perfectly for my professional life. In the Integral Planning Project course, we learnt to work together across disciplines. Understanding other professions and trades is absolutely invaluable.

Matthias Krammer, graduate

He is also very enthusiastic about his job: "It's varied and I'm very happy with it. You sit where ideas are created and deal with enriching colleagues."
