My favourite place on campus

Where is your favourite place to study, chat, philosophise and meet? We asked our students what their favourite place on campus is.

My favourite place at the FH? Well, it depends on the time of year.

In winter or when it's cold, I find the common room in front of lecture hall 3 very pleasant, as you always meet fellow students there and can also chat with students from older semesters, which is particularly useful for "challenging" subjects (exam behaviour of lecturers, focus of exam material, challenges of upcoming subjects, etc.).

I go there primarily to study in the empty periods between courses, to complete assignments or to go through the exam material with fellow students in desperation before an exam :-). (Oh yes, the photocopiers set up there are also very helpful)

In summer, or when it's warmer, I prefer to spend time on the stands in front of the main entrance to the study centre to chat with colleagues about important or not so important things.

The canteen is also one of my favourite places. Especially as our canteen in Pinkafeld is still very personal and offers a much more pleasant atmosphere than the almost industrial-looking canteens at the big universities in Vienna. The prices are very student-friendly and the quality is also very good.

The ladies who are there for us every weekend are also very friendly and pleasant.

The cheap, always hot coffee in particular has often saved my mornings at the UAS.

Barbara Pfeiffer

is studying for a Bachelor's degree in IT Infrastructure Management in Eisenstadt.

My favourite place on campus are the comfortable red sofas on the first floor next to the drinks machines. After an intensive day at the UAS or during the lunch break, they invite me to relax in a cosy atmosphere. Thanks to the available power sockets, notebooks and tablets can also be used to study or share experiences with fellow students after office hours.

I'll probably always remember this place, as this is where I started my admissions interview with the head of my degree programme about two years ago and I waited excitedly with my mother before the interview.

The view through the large glass windows gives me inspiration for new ideas and thoughts.

is studying for a Master's degree in Sustainable Energy Systems in Pinkafeld.

I'm studying part-time and come to the campus in Pinkafeld at the weekends. You might think it's quiet there at the weekend, but the opposite is the case. The majority of students at FH Burgenland study part-time.

I work in a technical profession myself and work at the Austrian Energy Agency. I find the teaching at the UAS very varied and the laboratories offer a very good opportunity to put the theory I have learnt into practice. I was particularly interested in the measurement technology and thermodynamics courses. And that's why the laboratory at the Pinkafeld Study Centre is one of my favourite places on campus.

So there are plenty of opportunities to meet exciting people and experience the campus feeling.

Sophie Hausberger

is studying for a Master's degree in Healthcare Management in Pinkafeld.

My "favourite place on campus in Pinkafeld" - even after thinking about it for a while, I couldn't think of a specific place. Because for me as a student on a part-time Master's degree course, my favourite place is not tied to a specific location.

My favourite place to be is where my year group is! We are simply a really great group, also and perhaps even more so because we couldn't be more different in some respects.

Over the past three semesters, we have not only learnt together, but also laughed a lot and made friends. Yes, the fact that you have a very exciting and challenging time together makes you grow closer together than I would have previously realised.
