My job evolves around sustainability
The questions: "What materials can we reuse from discarded electrical appliances?" and "How can we minimise the pollutants released during the process?" are of concern to her.
She is studying part-time for a Master's degree in Energy and Environmental Management at the University of Applied Sciences Burgenland in Pinkafeld. Prior to this, she completed the Bachelor's degree programme of the same name. As a FIT (FEM* in Tech) ambassador, she helps to get girls and young women interested in technical professions.
She herself has always been interested in technology and began studying mechanical engineering at the Vienna University of Technology after graduating from high school. However, she soon realised that she wanted to focus on the topic of sustainability in her career and took a new direction.
She completed her HTL degree at the College for Energy, Environment and Sustainability, which enabled her to enter the technical field. Before her job at the university, she first worked as a technical draughtswoman in building technology and later in the field of digitalisation.
With the desire to develop professionally and make a sustainable contribution, Veronica Reisenhofer decided to enrol on the part-time degree programme at the Burgenland University of Applied Sciences. She was particularly impressed by the interdisciplinary nature of the programme, which combines technology, business, ethics and practice.

"The technical education at the Burgenland University of Applied Sciences not only offers in-depth specialist knowledge, but also the opportunity to look at complex topics from different perspectives"
emphasises Veronica Reisenhofer, a student on the Energy and Environmental Management Master's degree programme
The structure of the part-time degree programme, the fixed deadlines and the support from the university suited her way of working well. "Even at the application interview, I was pleasantly surprised by the way the students were treated and how much they were appreciated," she adds.
She sees her current degree programme and her work at Burgenland University of Applied Sciences as an ideal basis for achieving her goals and making a contribution to the topics of sustainability, environmental protection and resource conservation.
